As a vegetarian, ya hear a lot of great stuff. This is just a fun list of things said to me and friends of mine, and responces:
~Silly meat-eater: "Do vegetarians eat animal crackers?"
my responce: (... there really isn't any responce great enough for that question...)
~Silly meat-eater: "You'd never survive in a hunter-gatherer society."
my responce: ( haha.. well, that's true, but this is the Western hemisphere... in the 21 century... so I'm golden.. no hunting and gathering for me :P)
~Silly meat-eater: "Well... I don't eat [ a certian type of meat] or [ a different type]... does that count?"
my responce: (not as a vegetarian {because the person still ate certain types of meat}... but ya get points for not supporting those specific industries.)
~Silly meat-eater: "Do you eat eggs?"
my responce: (although it might be confusing, only vegans don't eat animal products, and I'm a vegetarian { at the time that was asked I wasn't vegan})
~Silly meat-eater: "That's insane! I could never do that!!"
my responce: (well... I haven't eaten meat in years.. sooo... yea ya can, you just don't want to ;] )
~Silly meat-eater: "What's the point? You don't make a difference."
my responce: (actually, vegetarians and vegans do cut down the amount of animals needed to be killed/ used. AAAAnd... I make a difference to every animal I don't eat. Here's a cute story a neighbor told me, made me feel accomplished. There was once a storm and many starfish were thrown from the sea onto the beach. A boy went along the beach and threw as many of the starfish back into the sea as possible. A man stopped him and ask, "Why are you doing that? You won't be able to save them all, so throwing a couple back doesn't make a difference."
The boy looked at the man and said as he threw another back to the ocean, "Well, it made a difference to that starfish." That's the general jist of the story as I remember it, no copy right intended... I just don't know where my neighbor got that story....)
Those were just a couple that I remember.. thanks for reading :]
